Selfless Men and women
Of dark and white skin
Rising from the dark hills of Africa
Their feet, stuck in the mud
After the storm struck in the night
And the river swollen, roaring angrily
Their hands held together
As they cross the angry river
No one left behind,
In a journey to the unknown
Babies held high,
And the elderly held strong
The king carrying the old man
And the guards,
Nothing more than carriers
A kingdom passing through fire
But constantly gaining power
A mystery of the hills
A people united in age
Selfless beyond rank
A people united in diversity
Rising up out of the water,
Everyone wet, but breathing strong
Everything lost, but everyone alive
