Looking back

Published by Johnson on

The journey was long
Your hand in mine felt strong
Promising happiness
Without loneliness.

I felt my heart filled
Anytime we walked
Problems forgotten
And happiness begotten.

You were my prince charming
With kindness bewildering
Promising nothing nasty
On a road that was dusty.

I clung to you
Like a tick on a ewe
Hoping for the very best
Even to the very last.

Better said than done
For like a dove it was gone
For everything looked nasty
And the relationship was now fusty.
